CMTP Announces 8 Tracks for CER Institute

BALTIMORE, Maryland (February 14, 2011) The Center for Medical Technology Policy’s Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) Institute, July 25 – 27, 2011 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is open for registration.  The CER Institute features eight intensive and interactive sessions designed to expose participants to a broad range of CER methodologies and emerging policy trends, and to ensure that participants understand effective strategies for translating results from CER studies into policy or practice.   Each three hour track will feature a real world case study, allowing participants to apply didactic material presented by instructors to topical examples from the field.  Participants are able to select sessions most relevant to their professional career.

In addition to allowing participants to select tracks that best fit their interests and professional needs, the institute will also feature a series of three plenary sessions on topics of cross-cutting importance to the field of CER in which students will have the opportunity to interact with the experts.

Track topics include Using Registries and Designing Prospective Observational Comparative Effectiveness Studies,  Pragmatic Attitudes to the Design of Randomized Controlled Trials, Cost Effectiveness Analysis with and without the QALY, Assessing Comparative Effectiveness Research Studies and Systematic Reviews, Methodologies for Using Existing Data Sets to Address Comparative Effectiveness Research Questions, A Case Study in “Adapting” Bayesian and Adaptive Techniques for CER, Translation and Dissemination of CER Information, and Indirect Comparisons and Network Meta-analysis.
