BALTIMORE, Maryland (August 16, 2011) - In continued efforts to improve healthcare and healthcare research, CMTP hosted a stakeholder meeting earlier this year focusing on Comparative Effectiveness Research for kyphoplasty, a treatment for chronic back pain.  For further information on the issue and insight from CMTP President Sean Tunis, read “Comparative Effectiveness Research Tackles Medicine’s Unanswered Questions,” in today’s Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/comparative-effectiveness-research-tackles-medicines-unanswered-questions/2011/08/01/gIQA7RJSHJ_story.html

The Center for Medical Technology Policy (CMTP) CMTP is a private, non-profit organization which serves as a neutral forum to promote discussion and develop strategies that improve the quality of clinical research for healthcare decision making.   CMTP’s objective is to help develop the methods and strategies that will ensure that comparative effectiveness research fulfills its intended goal of helping patients, clinicians and payers make more informed healthcare decision.
