Biography of Donna Schaffer
Donna Schaffer joined the Center for Medical Technology Policy in 2007 as a Research Consultant. She brings over 25 years of experience in governmental, managed care and non-profit research organizations to CMTP. From 1992 through 2007, Donna worked with Kaiser Permanente, serving as Cardiovascular Disease Leader in the Care Management Institute and as Director of the California Men's Health Study and Research Investigator in the Division of Research. In 2003, Donna was a co-recipient of the Aetna Susan B. Anthony Award for Excellence in Research on the Health of Older Women.
Donna has managed research projects in maternal and child health and colorectal and prostate cancers, and has developed evidence-based guidelines for clinicians and patients on cardiovascular disease and environmental health hazards. Her research publications are on the etiology of congenital malformations, gene-nutrient interactions in colorectal cancer, and dietary supplement use.
Donna holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley, a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis, and is a Registered Dietitian.
