Kalipso Chalkidou, MD, PhD
Kalipso Chalkidou, MD, PhD, is the director of the policy consulting arm of NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence), responsible for managing and developing consulting services for international clients drawing on the Institute’s experience of using evidence to inform health policy and practice. Prior to this, KC was the associate director of research and development at NICE. Between 2007 and 2008, she spent a year in the US as a Harkness fellow in health policy and practice, studying conditional coverage (Centre for Medical Technology Policy, San Francisco) and drug pricing policies (Department of Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Baltimore). Before joining NICE, KC held posts as a clinical research fellow at the University of Newcastle Medical School and a surgical trainee in NHS hospitals in Newcastle and Cambridge. She holds a doctorate on the molecular biology of prostate cancer from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (2003).
